This just has to be a great opportunity to write a stupid blog - about fame and fortune in the land of the video clip. Quite a few people think that these clips are stupid; particularly my friends. I have never let anything like that stop me before . . .
At the Radio Curly Collective - that's internet radio from Adelaide, sunny South Australia - we do take every thing seriously - especially our music . . . and our art . . . and original, alternative blend of ambient laid-back, often brutal, yet subtle, hip hop, dance, trance, trip trop, techno, house, slip slop, techno classical, gypsy hip hop, funky voodoo hip hop, jazz soul hip hop, neo-punk classical, plain classical, jazz, reggae, experimental, world beaten music - I missed a genre or two. We do take it seriously, all of it.
I may concede that our music may not fall into some of these categories, these genre or species of musical styles . . . but we know that it isn't rock and roll.
This is serious music . . . and it's not stupid. At least, we don't think so - and there is quite a few of of us. Not all of us are stupid. Doh.
Take our accompanying video clip - Dungle Concerto by Silicon Strings from their first CD Stringwall. Dungle Concerto is not a stupid title and the Silicon Strings are a serious bunch of musicians. Quite a few of them play violin or cello or even viola. So there. That's not stupid either. Well Dungle Concerto might not really be a concerto - but it is classical and that can be quite serious.
Of course, Silicon Strings have always taken a lighter approach to their music, except when they are tying to be heavy, but the Dungle Concerto is a light, bouncy sort of piece. You might feel stupid trying to dance to it, but it does have a solid beat.
So . . . Silicon Strings are not really stupid, quite the opposite, Dungle Concerto is a stupid title - but Stringwall is a great CD watch out for more
