Thanks for the compliment! I hope the story remains good as it goes on. The fact is, I haven't had too much feedback - for all I know it's a bore to most people. Hope you keep enjoying it!
Would you mind if I sent you an e-mail? I've written a foreword for the book, but it isn't in the current printed version yet. Your's is already on the way so it won't have the foreword. If it's ok by you, I will send a one page .pdf file as an attachment with an explanation of why I think it's important to have. Your e-mail address was on the order. I won't use it unless you say so. Thanks!
Gee - we both missed that. Gladly accepted when it arrives!
Droopy and I have tried to 'become friends' a few times too - it just doesn't work. The request 'gets sent' - but never received by the other!
It might be happening to us too - if you've already sent it, I still haven't received it as of this moment. SV's 'friend list' code is broken somehow.
I'll try issuing one too - let's see if it shows up at your account. That's one reason I don't worry about the friends list too much - it doesn't always work for me! Still, it would be nice...
I finally got around to checking out 'Fireproof Fingers' - Yow!!! That surprised me! I never would have guess that was doable.
From the looks of Droopy's comment below and your interests above, you're into metal working. Cool! I have a small combo mill/lathe in my basement. Sadly I have not yet had the time to learn to use it. There is a nearly endless list of projects I could use it for. Maybe some day...
Oh man I love old manual machines more than the newer stuff!! To have the title "Machinist" holds huge weight in my mind! We have a few true deals at the plant, they work in the Special machining dept. and can buil anything if you give them a drawing and the materials...these guys are all trained on the job and are awesome!!! we have only one Kick Bullard operator left (don't know if you know what one is, but they are neat when the operator is running them) and one Warner Swasey 4A Turrett lathe operator...neat stuff!! They are the Rework masters!
say buddy! I see from past comments that you work in a foundry...I work in a machine shop where we by many many many castings and forgings of various size and material; from mild carbon steel, cast Iron, stainless (T316, 440, CF8M, 17-4, etc...) I even had to visit one of our vendors in Corsicana, Texas called Oil City Iron Works...it was my first time in a foundry of any kind...neat-o!! One of my classes last semester was basically a field trip to 14 different facilities of various capacities (coal fired and natural gas power plants, paper mill, Sarah Lee Bakery, Campbell's Soup, My shop-Flowserve, and a few others) one of them was Hydro Aluminum, a Norwegian, or Swedish owned company that made made only high grade aluminum barstock in 40 foot sections-real neat!!! I love the metal industry and cutting them to finished dimensions with high $$ CNC machines!!!! anyhow, cool deal! What do you do?
