I was born and raised in Los Angeles, graduated from LA High School (3rd generation) and UCLA (2nd generation), married, and when my husband joined the Navy in 1961 (rather than be drafted), became a Navy wife. We had two girls, made 9 PCS's (permanent changes of station) including a tour in Japan, and returned to Modesto (his home town) when we were "RIFfed" along with 2/3 of the rest of the military in 1972. We found ourselves right in the middle of a recession that lasted several years during which we struggled. After 42 years of marriage we divorced, and I now live with a black puff ball Pomeranian and a cat who is a master hunter of rodents (good kitty!) and birdies (bad kitty!). I am active in church (Greek Orthodox) and spoil my 5 grandchildren as do all good yiayias.
