America, all i can remember about the planning process were the constant trips to the travel agent and flicking through glossy brochures, circling hotels and potential activities. Internet will continue to change the way we travel the globe. The best part about it, is the unlimited resource of information offered by other travellers through their stories and photos. Thailand at the start of the year, i bought a couple of guidebooks, but in the end we did most of our planning through the web. So it will be interesting to see how all of that affects the way we travel as well. Googled them and found overwhelming negative comments and experiences others had had with them. Agreed, there is something empowering about being able to do your own research. Sure, i might do a quick search of my intended accommodation to see if the reviews are mainly negative, etc. Bad reviews have turned me away from many places, and good reviews end up disappointing me when i get there. Net, especially when i learn of last-minute changes, delays and cancellations. However, i have been victim to changing prices. In this case, an agent would have been great. Jen i are of the same breed. In my blog on our reliance on the internet, i responded to gegao on how it has changed the international experience. After that it is down to meeting and talking to real people along the way. With constant updates, it feels like that person is right next door. Recently i read an article saying that internet keeps people staying at home. Internet keeps us at home not because it captivates us with its abilities, but because we want to stay home.
